Obituary Condolences

SWANLUND, C. GRANT C. Grant Swanlund was born on April 4, 1919 and went to be with the Lord on April 24, 2012. Grant was born to Clarence N. and Edith Thelin Swanlund in Los Angeles, CA, along with loving sister June Forrest. The family moved to Glendale, CA, with graduation from Hoover High followed by art school in LA. Grant married his first wife and high school sweetheart, Jean Durran, in 1942 and became a loving father to Sandra (Bruce) Hinchliffe and Wendi Swanlund. During WWII, Grant landed at Normandy Beach D-day plus 3, served at the Battle of the Bulge, and participated in the liberation of Buchenwald. His lifelong passion and career in art culminated with 17 years as Art Director in the Publications Dept., UCLA. In 1970, Grant married Doris Davis and became the loving stepfather to Debbie Scott, Bill (Martha) Davis and Patti (James) Ochi. Grant also cherished his church family at Faith Community Church by the Sea, weekly Bible studies, and most importantly loved the Lord with all his heart. He is survived by all noted family (excluding parents), plus two Forrest nephews and niece, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Services will be held on May 19, 10:00 a.m. at El Camino Memorial Park and Mortuary, 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd., San Diego, CA 92121.
