Obituary Condolences

SCARFEO, DOUGLAS JOHN CHARLES Douglas John Charles Scarfeo, age 62, of Encinitas, CA, passed away from cardiac arrest on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at his residence. He was born on January 12, 1950, in The Bronx, NY, to his parents, Rosario Scarfeo and Luisa Grossi. Douglas was an only child. He married LuVerne Richie in San Diego, CA, on November 16, 1978. They had two children. He married Melissa Jane Allen in Encinitas, CA, on January 4, 2002. They had two children. He attended North Babylon High School, graduating in 1968, and studied various subjects from Aerospace Engineering at New York University to Financial Planning at the University of California at San Diego. He graduated with an Associates degree in Computer Science from Coleman University. He was a current resident of Encinitas, CA, for 16 years and was self employed prior to retiring in 2009. Douglas loved his family and friends to his fullest and had a wonderful gift to truly connect with people on any level. He was first and foremost a family man, who would go to the ends of the world to support, guide, and protect them. He had an unparalleled passion for life, was a chaser of dreams, hunter of knowledge, a surfer, a sportsman, and an exceptional mentor. Douglas is survived by his loving wife, Melissa; their children, seventeen-year-old-son Shane and fifteen-year-old daughter Christina; his previous wife, LuVerne; their children, thirty-one-year-old son Justin and twenty-nine-year-old daughter Daniela. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Erica, and granddaughter Emily; father-in-law and mother-in-law Ed and Doris Allen; and his aunt, Mary Ryzuk. Predeceased in death by his parents Rosario and Luisa. Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life for Douglas on Saturday, October 20, 2012, anytime between 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., at the home of Doris and Ed Allen, 1156 Sidonia Court Encinitas, CA 92024, 1-760-943-6992. Light hors d'oeuvres and beverages will be served. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Trauma Intervention Programs of San Diego County, Inc., 2560 Orion Way, Carlsbad, CA 92010, 1-760-931-2104.
