Donald Arthur Lindgren Obituary
Lindgren, Donald Arthur LA MESA -- Dr. Donald Arthur Lindgren of La Mesa, passed away on June 19, 2014 at home in the presence of his loving family. He was born in Racine, Wisconsin on April 17, 1932 to Dorothy Palmer Lindgren and Arthur Lindgren. After graduation from William Horlick High School, he entered the U.S. Army serving in Okinawa. He earned Bachelor of Science, Masters, and Doctor of Philosophy Degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In 1962 he relocated to Arizona and became Assistant Professor in the School of Business at Arizona State University, Tempe, later Professor of Marketing at San Diego Sate University until retirement. Active in community affairs he was a longtime member of Foothills United Methodist Church, La Mesa, President of the Wisconsin Alumni Club, Chairman of the Challenge Rehabilitation Center, La Mesa, Board of and volunteer mathematics aide at Kempton Elementary School, Spring Valley. He was a longtime member and club champion of Cottonwood Golf Club. Survivors include daughters Leslie Lindgren of San Diego and Allison Abshire of Boise, Idaho, and three sisters Nancy King, Louise Rand, and Carol Strandberg. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 28th, at 11:00 a.m. at Foothills United Methodist Church, 4031 Avocado Blvd., La Mesa. In lieu of flowers,the family suggests contributions to Challenge Center, 5540 Lake Park Way, La Mesa, CA 91942.
