Dorothy K. Robinson Obituary
Robinson, Dorothy K. CARLSBAD -- Dorothy Amelia Koontz Robinson died on January 20, 2013 in Carlsbad, Calif., at the age of 98. Dot was born on April 23, 1914 in Jones, OK, the second of six children of Charles and Edna Koontz. In 1917, the family moved to Alamosa, Colo., and in 1928 to Bell, Calif. Dot received her diploma from Bell High School and attended the University of Southern California, Portland State University, and the University of Washington. She became a professional accountant and was employed by the Credit Bureau of Hawaii, the U.S. Forest Service, and the U.S. General Services Administration. Dot was married to Walter L. Robinson on May 22, 1935. They soon had a daughter and a son. Because of Walt's work as a Postal Inspector, the family moved often. They lived in many cities in the western U.S. and in Honolulu before Hawaii became a state. Walt and Dot retired to Rancho Bernardo in 1972. In 2002, they moved to La Costa Glen retirement community in Carlsbad. Before Walt died in 2010, he and Dot celebrated 75 years of marriage. Dot was admired and loved by all who knew her. She was devoted to her family and was always ready to volunteer in her community, coordinating golf activities or dinners for her ballroom dance group. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Austin and her husband Charles of Garden Grove, Calif.; her son, Richard Robinson and his wife Marilyn of Hurst,Texas; her sister, Jeanne Lazaris of Lakehead, Calif.; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren. Private services will be held.
