Edward L. Walsh Obituary
Walsh, Edward L. 01/25/1929 ~ 04/09/2013 ESCONDIDO -- Edward L. "Knobby" Walsh was born in Centralia, Pa. He enlisted in USMC in 1945 at age 16. He was wounded in combat on March 4, 1951 during Chosin Reservoir conflict in Korea. He was a drill instructor at MCRD in San Diego, retired from USMC in 1966, but remained a Marine for life. In civilian life, he was employed with US Postal Service, San Diego City Schools, North County Transit, and S.D. County Marshal. Edward was a life member of the 1st Marine Division Assoc., Order of the Purple Heart, D.A.V., American Legion, VFW, Veterans of Underage Military Service, the Chosin Few, China Marine Assoc., and National Assoc. of Letter Carriers. Ed loved boxing, football and helping people. He is survived by his four sons, four grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Based on his final wishes, there will be no memorial services.
