Freda Breise

Breise, Freda 06/17/1909 ~ 08/13/2013 LA MESA -- Freda Breise was born in Minnesota as Alfreda Helena Margareta Schroeder. She married Frederic H. Breise in 1934. Fred was a pilot and he used his plane for "Barnstorming," with Freda selling rides. They moved to California and purchased a home and rental property. Freda handled the rental business. They purchased a Flight School with their brother-in-law, Carl Johnston. Freda helped run the restaurant, trading off with Margaret Johnston, Fred's sister. Freda joined the "Ninety-Nines," an international group of women pilots. Freda was actively involved in her church and volunteered her time in the Lutheran Thrift shop. They later moved to La Mesa, California. Fred passed away in their home at the age of 81. Her grandson, Ray Breise became her caregiver until she died peacefully at home at the age of 104. Freda is survived by her three children, her 10 grandchildren, her 12 great-grandchildren, and her five great-great grandchildren. "She was the most unselfish person I have ever known," said her son, Vance. She was loved and admired by everyone she met. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, August 19, at 7 p.m., at Christ Lutheran Church, 7929 La Mesa Blvd., La Mesa, CA 91942
