Helen Frisk Laffoon Obituary
Laffoon, Helen Frisk 06/29/1921 ~ 01/22/2014 EL CAJON -- Born to parents, Charles Frederick and Nettie Ray Frisk in Irwin, PA, Helen graduated from Norwin High School and received a BS in Home Economics from Seton Hill College. After wedding Carthrae Merrette Laffoon Jr., also of Irwin, PA, in July of 1943, she taught high school biology. In 1947, the family moved to El Cajon, CA where they were active in the First Presbyterian Church of El Cajon and its social, administrative and governing bodies as well as with PTAs and SDG&E groups. Helen was involved with AAUW, took a chair at several local bridge clubs, expressed creativity sewing, knitting and with her quilting group, and loved reading. Helen and Cart (1920-1995) raised four children: Karin (m. Les Wright), Cassie (m. Greg Presco), Merrette (1952-1976) and Barbara. In addition to her daughters and grandson, David Wright, Helen is survived by her sister, Ruth Frisk Harcharik; sister-in-law, Florence Kunkel Laffoon; nieces and nephews, Anderson, Harcharik and Laffoon and their families. Special thanks are offered to Cindy Wieland and her staff at Grossmont Gardens Health Care Center and Julie Morgan and her Gentiva Hospice team for providing comfort, respect and excellent care in Helen's last years. Helen's generous and caring spirit touched many and she will be missed. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in El Cajon, 500 Farragut Circle, on Saturday, March 8th, at 11 a.m., with a reception following.
