Iva L. Scharbarth Obituary
Scharbarth, Iva L. Together Again! ENCINITAS -- Russell Scharbarth passed away April 3, 2010. His beloved wife of 72 years, Iva L. Scharbarth, joined him in eternity on May 7, 2013. Iva L. Hewitt was born in Baraboo, Wis., on May 23, 1916 and graduated Valedictorian from her high school in 1936. She came to Encinitas to visit her aunt in 1937, and it was there that she met Russell Scharbarth. It was love at first sight, and they were married in 1938. They made their home in Encinitas and raised their four children, Ralph, Robert, Ryan and Rhonda. Iva was an excellent seamstress and worked at Ethel's Shopp in Solana Beach for many years. She then moved to Grants Pass, Oregon where she and Russell lived "in the woods" for 25 years. They returned to Encinitas and resided in Park Encinitas. They were members of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Encinitas and the Elks Lodge of Encinitas. She is survived by her children: Ralph and Marilyn Scharbarth from Iowa, Robert and Carol Ann Scharbarth of Carlsbad, Ryan and Ginny Scharbarth of Carlsbad, and Rhonda and Jim Martens from Omak, Washington. Iva had 10 grandchildren, and 20 ½ great- grandchildren. Her parents, four brothers, and three sisters preceded her in death. The Celebration of her Life will be held at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, May 15th, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Encinitas. We wish to thank Anthony Heights Villa, Elizabeth Hospice of Escondido, and Olivenhein Guest Home for the love and care they gave to Iva and her family during the final days of her life.
