Obituary Condolences

DUNASKY, JOHN (JACK) F June 10, 1925 to March 17, 2012 Jack passed away peacefully in his sleep, following a decline of his health over the past few years. He was born in the Sacramento area, enlisted in the U.S. Navy Air Corps and, following the war, graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. He worked as a lubrication engineer for Texaco Oil Company until 1974, when he purchased Neptune Oil Company in San Diego. Escondido was his home for the next 38 years. Jack possessed an uncommon level of intellectual curiosity and sense of adventure. He was an avid backpacker, an accomplished potter, prolific gardener and, after retirement, became an active member of Patio Playhouse in Escondido, building sets and performing in plays. His biggest delight was giving of himself: tutoring children, being a member of the S.D. County Grand Jury, as a blood donor, and an active member of House of Prayer in Escondido. As an advocate of independent thought and critical thinking, Jack never stopped educating himself and others. He touched the lives of many. A gathering of friends and family to celebrate his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at House of Prayer, 795 N. Rose St, Escondido. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Patio Playhouse
