Jerry Ash Obituary
Ash, Jerry VISTA-- Jerry Ash (given name, Floyd Winfred Ash), age 91, went to be with the Lord on December 5, 2013 at his home in Vista, CA. He was born on September, 8, 1922, in Chadron, Nebraska to Jeff McKinley Ash and Lucy Violet Denton. Thirty years in the USMC took Jerry to the Battle of Okinawa in WWII, the Chosin Reservoir and Purple Heart in Korea, Viet Nam (flying missions out of Japan), and finally Desert Storm as a supporting civil servant. He then became a civil service Applications Eng for Camp Pendleton's AVTB and 29 years later retired from this, his last job, at age 80. Jerry was a member of the Stonebrooke Church in Vista, CA, since 1959. He was a Godly man who shared Jesus through living his life -- demonstrating hard work, integrity, humility, and honesty. Jerry is survived by his spouse of 67 years, Colleen of Vista; his daughter, Marti Hoffmann (James Hoffmann) of Vista; his son, Randy Ash (Pam Ash) of Durango, CO; his four grandsons, Tyler Hoffmann of North Las Vegas, NV, Ryan Ash of Ramona, CA, Brynn Hoffmann of Denver, Colorado, and Andrew Ash of Vista; seven great-grandchildren, nephews and other relatives. His family and friends will miss him dearly. A life celebration service and color guard honors will be held at Stonebrooke Church, 145 Hannalei Drive, Vista, CA, at 11:00 am, on Monday, January 6, 2014. Reception will follow.
