Jim Walker Obituary

Walker, Jim C. 03/25/1919 ~ 07/18/2013 IMPERIAL BEACH -- Jim was born in Cotton Valley, Louisiana. He joined the U.S. Navy in December of 1938 and served throughout WW II in the Asiatic Fleet. He retired in 1960 and went on to work in Federal Civil Service at NAS North Island until his retirement. He met and married Genevieve Amaral while on tour in Hawaii. They moved to Imperial Beach in 1959. Jim was predeceased by his beloved wife Genevieve in 1993. He is survived by siblings Marion, Bobby, Charlie and Gladys, his children Sheila Engelman (David), Charlene, Michael (Mercedes), Brenda and numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Jim was a Life Member of the Fleet Reserve Association, Unit #289. His family would like to thank Mission Hospice and Ann Stone and her wonderful staff at Sun and Sea Manor in Imperial Beach for their kind and loving care. A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 29, at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita.
