John Joseph Rimelspach M.D. Obituary
Rimelspach, John Joseph M.D. 07/11/1922 ~ 07/07/2014 ESCONDIDO -- John Joseph Rimelspach, M.D., moved his family to Escondido from Yellow Springs, Ohio in 1966 to become the first cardiologist in North San Diego County. He graduated from Ohio State University and Ohio State University Medical School, where he also completed all of his post-med school training (with highest honors). While serving as a physician in post-war Germany, Jack and Rosella enjoyed travel throughout Europe, which sparked a life-long love of travel and adventure. He was a member of Rotary Club of Escondido since 1966. He loved gardening, landscaping, and house design, but his first love was GOLF! He had 6 (six!) holes-in-one. He was an avid fan of San Diego Chargers, Padres and all "Buckeye" sports. During his final 10 years,"Doctor Jack" greatly enjoyed the independence, intelligence, longevity and wit of his dear friends at the Redwood (Westmont) Towncourt community, Escondido. He delighted in repeatedly surviving dire medical predictions and significant health impairments, and he considered much of his life to be "bonus time," which he lived to the fullest extent possible. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Rosella Mae Hamm Rimelspach; Margaret E. Wybel to whom he was married for some years; parents, Edward and Ellen Rimelspach; sisters, Elizabeth "Lou" (Rimelspach) Hafford Newton, Dorothy (Rimelspach) Reinick, Anne (Rimelspach) Daubel, and Jane Farley (Rimelspach) Still. He is survived by his older brother, James E. Rimelspach of Logan, Ohio; children: Marsha Ann Rimelspach Closz (Larry Closz, husband), John Lee Rimelspach, Judy Rimelspach Denenholz (David Denenholz, husband), and Kathy Rimelspach Norvelle Hubble (Conrad Hubble, husband); grandchildren: Andy Closz, Jeff Closz, Heidi Denenholz, Laura Denenholz, Jessica Norvelle, and Daniel Norvelle; five great- grandsons, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved very much. Graveside services, officiated by Jack's longtime friend and pastor, Rev. Richard Huls, will be held at Oak Hill Memorial Park in Escondido on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 2:00 pm. All are welcome to join us on what would have been Doctor Jack's 92 birthday! In lieu of flowers, gifts may be given to Ohio State University College of Medicine Dean's Scholarship Fund (Fund #313941) c/o Medical Center Development, 660 Ackerman Rd, PO Box 183112, Cols, OH, 43218.
