Joseph P. Schultz Obituary
Schultz, Joseph P. OCEANSIDE -- Joseph P. Schultz, 78, passed away on May 29, 2014. He was born on August 2nd, 1935 to Peter and Julia Schultz of Philadelphia, PA. Joseph graduated from St. John's Academy in Philadelphia in 1952 and from Villanova University in 1956. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the US Marine Corps in 1957, serving in Vietnam in 1967-68. He retired as a Lt. Col. in 1979. He worked as a logistic engineer for SAIC until his retirement in 1997. Joseph was a member of St. Francis Church in Vista, CA, serving as Lector and Commentator. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem. He enjoyed working in his garden, was an avid collector of nativity scenes, and worked untiringly for the Knights of Columbus on the state and supreme level. He was a loving man and an inspiration to many people. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy Butler Schultz; his two daughters, Jeannine Schultz and Barbara Johns; and by his four grandchildren, Marin Andersen and her husband Gary, Corey and Erick Houck and Sasha Johns. Services will be at St. Francis Church in Vista. Burial will be at Mission San Luis Rey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Marine Toys for Tots Foundation: Toysfortots.org/donate
