Luanna "Jean" Rucker Obituary
Rucker, Luanna "Jean" IMPERIAL BEACH -- Longtime resident of Imperial Beach, devoted and beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Jean was surrounded by family when she passed away after a sudden stroke on January 4, 2014. Jean was born in Decatur, Illinois on April 3, 1933 to parents Harold and Ethel Bridgman. She graduated from Arizona State University and moved to San Diego to teach in the Chula Vista Unified School District in 1955, eventually retiring from Berry Elementary School in the South Bay District after 36 years of teaching. A selfless, compassionate woman and devout Christian, Jean volunteered actively with Cub Scouts and PTA, and served on the boards of Little League Baseball, PEO Sisterhood, and both the Methodist and Presbyterian churches in Chula Vista. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and especially singing with church groups and at Paradise Village Retirement Community, her home for the past two years. Jean's greatest passion was her family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Joel, sons Jeff (Julie), Mike (Terri), Jim (Dawn); grandchildren: Jessica, Jacob, Addison, Savannah, Emma and Sophie, and brother Jim Bridgman of Goldfield, Nevada. Services will be held Saturday, January 18th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Chula Vista Presbyterian Church, 940 Hilltop Dr.
