MARTHA GOODWIN Obituary

GOODWIN, MARTHA J. July 5, 1913 to October 16, 2012 Martha Jessie Goodwin, a native of San Diego, was the daughter of Charles and Lillian Camp who settled in Dulzura in 1910. She attended grade school in Dulzura, Memorial JHS, and graduated from Grossmont High School in 1931. After graduating she worked as a hair stylist until her marriage to Robert N. Goodwin in 1934. The Goodwins were happily married for 65 years until his passing in 1999. They were devoted parents to their daughters, Barbara L. Mack of San Diego and Carol G. Foerster of La Mesa, and adored their five grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. For many years Martha participated in P.T.A., was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, a member of Job's Daughters Mothers' Club, and a member of the San Diego Floral Association. Martha was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church for more than 70 years and a member of Chapter IZ of P.E.O. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, October 27th at 1:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of San Diego. In lieu of flowers donations maybe made to the Memorial Fund of the First Presbyterian Church of San Diego or to a charity of your choice.

I had the privilege of playing the beautiful Steinway piano at Martha Goodwin´s Memorial Service. I also had the privilege of hearing her granddaughter Betsy Whitelock read Proverbs 31 for the family and friends that were there that day. Very, very few women live their lives in such a way that these verses could accurately describe them. Martha did. And I am blessed beyond words to have known her. "Grandma." Thank you Lord.
