Max Morgan Obituary
Morgan, Max 12/14/1920 ~ 12/26/2013 CLAIREMONT -- Max Art Morgan passed away December 26, 2013 at the age of 93 with his wife Clarice and friends by his side. Max was born in Pocatello, Idaho, to parents Art and Agnes Morgan. He moved to California with his family when he was 16 and he graduated high school here. He served in the National Guard in high school and again following his service duty. He served as a sergeant in the Army from September of 1940 to August of 1945 as a weather observer. Max was one of the few remaining Pearl Harbor survivors. He enjoyed telling stories of his time served especially his duty in Fiji. After the service, Max lived for a short time in Monterey, California, where he drove a city transit bus. When he returned to San Diego, Max began work and retired from his job of 35 years as a bus supervisor for the City Schools. He was in charge of the special ed bus system for many years. After retirement, he enjoyed singing with friends at some of our local establishments. Max is survived by his wife Clarice of 41 years, his sons Danny Morgan of San Diego, and Glenn Morgan of Michigan, daughters from his marriage to Clarice, Wanda Morgan and Debbie Hagopian both of New Mexico and 7 grandchildren. Max was preceded in death by his daughter Jane Cummins. Service will be held Saturday, January 11th, at 1 p.m. at Greenwood Memorial Park & Mortuary, Salli Lynn Chapel, 4300 Imperial Ave., San Diego, CA 92113. There will be a viewing at noon. A reception will be held at the San Diego Elks Lodge 168, 7430 Jackson Dr. San Diego, CA 92119 following the service.
