Norman Bradley Peart Obituary
Peart, Norman Bradley 1950 ~ 2013 SAN DIEGO -- Norman Bradley Peart passed away on Friday, May 10, 2013, of cancer. Norman was born in Findley Ohio, the son of Robert Laverne Peart and Leona Sines Peart. He joined the .U.S Army in 1968 and was sent to Vietnam. He was the only survivor of his platoon and a POW from Jan to Apr 1969 when he was freed in a prisoner exchange. He returned to duty and finished his deployment. He received the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and other citations listed on his plaque at the Mt. Soledad Veterans Memorial purchased in his honor by his many loyal customers twelve years ago. After some hard- scrabble years, Norman came to San Diego and became a handyman and jack-of-all-trades for a group of La Jolla residents and businesses that will miss him deeply. No job was too small or too large for his talents in plumbing, electrical work, painting, or housesitting family pets. He even fixed trucks, mostly his own. His wife Gina Peart, brothers Benson and Boyd Peart and his stepfamily, Howard and Shirley Ferguson, Alfred Buso, Edward and Elena Carrillo, Robert and Ana Jewell Hastey and Evan McClod survive him. A memorial service will be held at Miramar National Cemetery Tuesday, May 21st, at 1:45. Donations can be made to the Ark Antiques Animal Charities, 7620 Girard Avenue, La Jolla, CA 92037 or Mt. Soledad Memorial Association, 6437 Blythefield, Suite B., La Jolla, CA 92037.
