Rebecca Lee Callaway Obituary
Callaway, Rebecca Lee POWAY -- Rebecca Lee Callaway, a resident of Poway, passed away at home surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, August 13, 2013. She was 62. Becky is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Rex Callaway, and devoted son, Brian Callaway, as well as her great-aunt, Dorothy Oliver; sisters Cynthia Fiefer, Mary Anderson, Susan Conrad, and Janet Oliver; brother Thomas Oliver; and extended family. Becky was born in Park Forest, Illinois, the fourth of six children of William W. and Margaret L. Oliver. She graduated from Centerville High School in Centerville, Ohio, in 1969 and completed a bachelor's degree in education at Indiana University in May, 1973, and a master's degree in education from the University of Maryland in 1979. Becky was truly a master teacher. She taught middle school in Washington, D.C., Denver, CO, and most recently at Soille San Diego Hebrew Day School. During nearly forty years in the classroom, Becky enriched thousands of students' lives as teacher, mentor, and role model. A great love and talent was her exquisite needlework. A memorial service in celebration of Becky's life will be scheduled for a later date.
