SHANE MURPHY Obituary

MURPHY, SHANE Shane Murphy of San Diego and Ramona, CA, died in a flying accident August 7, 2012, in the French Alps. Shane was born August 3, 1982 in San Diego, and was the son of Nancy Taylor of Ramona, and Dan Murphy of Ohio and the brother of Ashley Rae Murphy-Taylor, also of San Diego. Shane graduated from Ramona High School and immediately launched the first of several successful entrepreneurial and innovative businesses. His genius in computer technology enabled him to work from anywhere in real estate, web design, and flight technologies. He was a licensed helicopter pilot, flight instructor, sky diving instructor, and internationally ranked BASE jumper. Recently, he was CTO at USA Pain Professionals and Engineer at Click Push. Always surrounded by friends, Shane was a motivational force, loved to tease and carry out elaborate practical jokes with his friends. Raised on a horse ranch, Shane loved all animals and most recently his dog, Bella. He relished every opportunity for adventure here and abroad and loved to share his inspiration for life and learning with others. In addition to his parents and sister, Shane is survived and celebrated by his Aunt Susan and Uncle John Taylor, and six cousins Larisa, Rachael, Sara, James, Jordan, Jon, stepdad Warren Bacon, stepmom, Betzaida Murphy and many friends throughout the world. Plans for a remembrance and celebration of life for Shane Murphy include a gathering on August 31 at 5:00 p.m. at Crown Point on Mission Bay in San Diego. A memorial fund for Shane's passion for education in science, technology and engineering is set up at http://sdsa.org/support/memorial-fund-for-shane-murphy, for charitable contributions.

Dear Nancy and family,

After watching video of Shane's flights of boldness, I was grateful for his having taken a camera along so we could share a moment of his life. He knew the acceleration, the speed, the wind chill, carving through the thickness of air, the sounds of free flight, to do the impossible!

"Courage is the most important of all the virtues, because without courage you can't practice any other virtue consistently. You can practice any virtue erratically, but nothing consistently without courage." Maya Angelou

Shane achieved the perfection of courage.

With love,
Kevin Hardy
