Thomas F. Harrison Obituary
Harrison, Thomas F. 1945 ~ 2013 VISTA -- Thomas Franklin Harrison, aka "Chip," passed away on February 21, 2013. He was born in Harriman, Tennessee in 1945 and moved to California in 1950. Tom attended Vista High School, graduating at the top of his class and went on to become the Class President at Palomar College before enlisting with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war. He served as a Medical Assistant at Landstuhl Medical Center in Germany. Upon returning, he studied Microbiology at UC Irvine before getting involved in the fine wine business. He opened the award-winning "Black Sheep Bistro" in Tustin in 1984 which was voted best new restaurant by the Southern California Restaurant Writers Association in 1985. Later, he founded "Black Sheep Gourmet Foods" in 2000, a specialty foods company that continues to thrive. Tom was married for 18 years to Herma Nowack of Hannover, Germany with whom he has two lovely daughters. He was later married for 25 years to Maribeth Seaton of Anaheim, California. He will be deeply missed by his companion, Patti Schilling of Fullerton, California. Tom is survived by his "baby sister," Bonnie Biggs of Carlsbad, California; his amazing daughters, Jessica Mason of Jackson, Tennessee and Erika Harvey of Costa Mesa, California; and grandsons, Samuel, Houston, Sawyer and Griffin. Donations to honor his memory should be made to any animal shelter of your choosing.
