CIOCYS, WILLIAM FRANCIS "BILL" Bill was born December 31, 1924 in Providence, R.I., and passed away April 7, 2012. Bill was attending Brown University when he volunteered for military service in 1943. He served in the Navy on the carrier U.S.S. Randolph in the Pacific Theater during World War II. In 1947 Bill transferred to the Air Force where he began his career in flying. He was honorably discharged from the USAF in 1950. Bill joined American Airlines, based in New York, as a Pilot in 1955 and transferred to San Diego in 1978. He retired as a Captain of AA in 1984. His passions were sailing, flying, and sports. Bill belonged to the Long Island Yacht Club, the Mission Bay Yacht Club, and was a charter member of MBYC Seagals. He was also a member of the Lions Club in San Diego. Bill was preceded in death by his son David. He is survived by his loving wife Betty and her four sons Jim, Kurt, Chuck, and Grant Sinks and his four children Claudia, Joanne, Mary, and Edward. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 16th, at Miramar Air Base Cemetery at 1:30 p.m., followed by A "Celebration of Life" at the Mission Bay Yacht Club at 3:00 p.m. Donations in Bill's memory can be sent to "Juniors In Boating" c/o Mission Bay Yacht Club, 1215 EI Carmel Pl., San Diego, CA 92109 or Lions Club, 310 Market Street, San Diego, CA 92101.
