Walter A. Heise Obituary
Heise, Walter A. SAN DIEGO -- Walt was born July 5, 1926, in the Flint Hills of Kansas, not far from Alma. He left us peacefully on June 21, 2013. Like many families of the Great Depression, his family left the midwest for California where they settled in Imperial Valley. He graduated from Brawley Union High School in 1944 and immediately enlisted in the Air Force. Eventually he ended up in Oceanside where he met Lydia Klein. They married in May of 1951. Walt worked at Oceanside Lumber until 1959 when he moved the family to San Diego and began a 30-plus year career at Dixieline Lumber. He worked his way up through the company to manage various departments, achieving the title, Vice President of Retail Operations. He was active in service to his church, both at Holy Cross and Clairemont Lutheran. Outside of work, he seemed most comfortable in a duck blind or attending one of his sons or grandsons sporting events. Walt is survived by his wife Lee, his sons Chris (Diana) and Jeff, grandsons, Jason and Jessic, and great- grandsons Devin and Zachary. His affection and care for his family will be missed. A special thanks to the staff of the Vintage Club at Grossmont Gardens and the staff at Interim Healthcare, The Gift of Hospice, for their care of our loved one. A memorial service will be held Friday, June 28th, at Clairemont Lutheran Church, 4271 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow.
