MYKING, MARIE BERNICE Dec. 16, 1925 to June 18, 2012 Marie Bernice Myking, 86, a longtime resident of San Diego passed away peacefully on June 18, 2012. The daughter of Norwegian immigrants, Marie was born in Seattle, WA, on December 16, 1925, to Martin and Berntine Stokke. Tragedy struck the family when Marie's brother, John, died from appendicitis at the age of 13. This sad event prompted Marie to obtain her degree in nursing from the University of Washington. In 1948, she married Lloyd Myking. They moved to San Diego in 1953. Marie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to raising her four children, she still made time for charity and community work. The family moved from Point Loma to Fletcher Hills in 1962 where they lived for almost 50 years. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she has joined her husband, who passed earlier this year. She is in the arms of the Lord with Lloyd, her parents and brother. Survivors include children: Lynn (Tom) Mitchell, John (Suzanne) Myking, Julie (Paul) Biberacher and Leslie (Jim) Kinney; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Friday, July 27, at 11 a.m. at the La Mesa Chapel at 8390 Allison Ave. in La Mesa. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the or a .
