MICHAEL MORRIS Obituary
MORRIS, MICHAEL October 28, 2012 This is a love story about one of the most beautiful souls to grace the earth and the many people he touched along the way. Michael Morris was born December 9, 1930 in Kensington, London, England. Michael lived a magical life of love, laughter, adventure, success and excitement. He was dashingly handsome, extremely charming, and fiercely intelligent, with a warmth and sparkle that touched everyone he met. Michael had a gift - a gift of love and joy. Rumi wrote: "Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it..." Michael was a master at removing, and dissolving, those barriers between everyone so that love could be found, experienced and nurtured. He made every single person who met him feel special, unique, gifted, appreciated, and respected (dogs included). This is the greatest accomplishment in life. "What Constitutes Success" By Bessie Stanley (1905) He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often and loved much; who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of little children; who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; who has left the world better than he found it, whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul; who has never lacked appreciation of earth's beauty or failed to express it; who has always looked for the best in others and given them the best he had; whose life was an inspiration; whose memory a benediction. Michael Morris was an extraordinary person who led an extraordinary life. Professionally, Michael achieved success in direct marketing, advertising and real estate. In his early career, Michael was a Flying Officer in the Royal Air Force and a racecar driver at the Brands Hatch circuit in England. Upon completion of his service at the Royal Air Force, Michael founded a printing firm in London. In 1964, Michael sold the firm and immigrated to the United States. He first worked in NYC and then Chicago. In the 70's, Michael worked as an advertising executive for Playboy magazine. Michael's entrepreneurial ambitions led him to San Diego where he founded a direct marketing firm, which he ran successfully for 11 years. In 1986, Michael and Carol Morris founded the San Diego brokerage firm Carol Morris Realty. Michael and Carol brokered, owned and managed residential and commercial real estate in San Diego and Anchorage, Alaska. Michael was also an accomplished sailor and private pilot. Michael married Sheelagh Bolton in 1961, taking her two little twins, Linda and Sue, as his own. A third daughter, Karen, was born in 1962. Their marriage ended in 1972. Michael married Carol Garry in 1980. Michael met his soul mate and life long companion in Carol, and they were inseparable for 32 years, until his death. Michael and Carol's marriage was a marriage made-in-heaven, and together they raised and nurtured eight children; Michael's three daughters and five children from Carol's previous marriage: Jon, Curtis, Kira, Lisa and Lara Karmazin.
