GEORGE W. AHLGREN Obituary
AHLGREN, GEORGE W. October 12, 1923 November 5, 2012 George W. Ahlgren passed away the same quiet way he lived his life. Born in Collinsville, CT, he was the 5th of 6 children born to Henry and Ilma Ahlgren. After graduation from Hartford Public High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II. His service included Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944. After the service he married Mildred Bouchard and came west. He attended USC and Loyola Law School. He had a long and successful carrier with State Farm Insurance Company, retiring in 1985. George enjoyed family, friends, golf, travel. USC football and exploring his Finnish heritage. George is survived by Mildred (his wife of 66 years), daughters Lorraine Purmort (Paul Purmort), Elizabeth Ahlgren and Janis Ahlgren (Charles Beckmann). Grandchildren Stephanie, Suzanne and Shelby Purmort, Zachary and Tekla Beckmann. Service will be held November 27th at 11:00am at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetrry, Point Loma, San Diego, California. In lieu of flowers the family asks everyone to practice random acts or kindness.
