Obituary Condolences

GERRODETTE, GEORGE P. George P. Gerrodette, 94, died November 1, 2012, at Scripps Hospital in San Diego. He was born and grew up in northern New Jersey, spending his summers on the beach at Cherry Grove, Fire Island, New York. He met his first wife Betty while serving in the Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. After the war, he obtained a DDS, practiced general dentistry in Pacific Beach, and was an active member of the San Diego County Dental Society. Later he taught dental assisting and other subjects at Mesa College until his retirement. After Betty's death in 1995, he met his second wife, Billee, and they enjoyed years of traveling and dancing. He moved to Wesley Palms in 2008 and was active in the retirement community until shortly before his death. George enjoyed bridge, ballroom dancing, Padres baseball, and driving his restored 1955 Packard convertible with the top down. An engaged citizen, he volunteered at the Balboa Park Visitor's Center and was a committed member of the Pacific Beach Rotary Club for more than 50 years. George is survived by his son Tim, daughter Tricia, daughter-in-law Pam, grandchildren Tien and Tan-ya, and great-grandchildren Gabrielle and Jaidee. At his request, there will be no memorial service.
