DAVID NEWTON STOREY Obituary
STOREY, DAVID NEWTON Nov. 22, 1921 to Nov. 14, 2012 David Newton Storey, 60 year resident of San Diego, died on November 14, 2012 in Issaquah, WA. He was 90 years of age. David was born in Gattman, MS, the son of Robert M. and Tennie Storey, and grew up in Columbus MS. He served during World War II in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1942 to 1946. He married San Diego native Nada Hickley in 1945; they had two daughters Eileen and Evelyn, and lived on Point Loma for 55 years. He moved to Wesley Palms from 2004 to 2006. David worked for Scripps Institute on research ships, on various Off Shore Oil Exploration vessels, Greyhound, smaller shipyards in the area, and teaching vocational subjects. He worked at NASSCO as an Outside Machinist Foreman for 26 years and retired in 1984. David was a member of the San Diego Masonic Lodge #35, served as Master of Joseph Shell Daylight Masonic Lodge #837, was a member of Al Bahr Shrine, and San Diego Scottish Rite. David is preceded in death by his wife Nada, his parents, brother Robert, and sister Louise Conn. Survivors include his sister Mary Strait of Columbus, MS; daughters, Eileen Shultz (H.V.) of Brawley, CA and Evelyn Cleeton (Larry) of Sammamish, WA; four grandsons, and ten great-grand-children. David will be interred at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery on Monday, December 17, 2012 after a Memorial Service with Military Honors at 1:00 pm. There will be a reception following at the Masonic Hall, 1895 Camino del Rio South, San Diego. The family suggests remembrances to Al Bahr Shrine, 5440 Kearney Mesa Road, San Diego CA, 92111-1393; with designation to Shriners Hospital for Children.
