Obituary Condolences

MOORE, EILEEN-MARIE Eileen-Marie Moore, 71, of Minong, Wisconsin, formerly of San Diego, California, with loved ones by her side, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 9, 2012. Eileen-Marie was born on February 10, 1941, in Summerfield, Kansas. Her parents were Cecil and Irene Moore, who preceded her in death. She has a brother, Charles Moore, living in Mount Shasta, CA; a sister Kathleen Moore, living in Escondido, CA; and a sister Joan Snell, living in Burchard, NE. Her Nebraska family includes many nieces, nephews and their children. Eileen-Marie is survived by her loving husband, Tony Tubbs. They were to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary in April of 2013. Although never having children of her own, Eileen-Marie is greatly loved by her eight step-children: Lonny Tubbs of San Diego, CA; Michael Tubbs of Vallejo, CA; Allison Jorgensen of Bend, OR; Susan Burton of Grants Pass, OR; Melanie Myers, of El Cajon, CA; Bobby Tubbs, of San Diego, CA; Sara Lee, of Oceanside, CA; and Tyler Tubbs, of Oceanside, CA. As well as nineteen grandchildren. Eileen-Marie was blessed with two careers in her lifetime. First, as a member of a religious order of women, The Daughters of Divine Charity, where she taught in elementary schools in New York and in California. Her last three years as a nun were with the Community of The Holy Spirit located in San Diego. After leaving the religious life Eileen-Marie obtained her B.A. degree in elementary education at San Diego State, and a M.S. degree in counseling from the University of San Diego. Eileen-Marie worked as a district counselor for the San Diego Unified School District for 25 years during which time she provided guidance to students, and training to school administrators and teachers in how to deal with children who were prenatally exposed to drugs. Eileen-Marie and Tony were classmates throughout elementary school, and when their paths crossed 35 years later, they fell in love. When both retired from their careers, they built a lake-side home on Kimball Lake in Minong, in the northwoods of Wisconsin. Moving to Wisconsin from San Diego in 2000, they soon became active in various volunteer organizations, including St. Mary Catholic Church in Minong, and in the Washburn County Lakes and Rivers Association where Eileen-Marie was a director and founding secretary. Her hobbies included gardening (a master gardener) and creating greeting cards, and she loved to fish. Her great delight was when the grandchildren visited and she taught them how to play dominos and checkers, how to work in the garden, and a love of the woods and caring for the wildlife found there. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church in Minong, WI, on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. An hour of visitation will precede the service. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Minong. The family suggests that donations in lieu of flowers be made to the Hayward Regional Hospice. The Brown Funeral Home of Solon Springs is assisting the family. Online condolences may be shared at
