LONGLEY, RUTH ROSENTHAL January 1922 to January 2013 Longtime resident of San Diego, California, Ruth was above all a stylish outdoors person. An avid golfer, swim-mer, gardener, fisherwoman, and huntress, she loved to travel the world. At the age of 83, she was still playing golf and fly-fishing in Montana. Growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio; the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Joseph H. Batsche, she attended Walnut Hills High School with her three siblings. While attending the University of Cincinnati, she was an active member of the Theta Phi Alpha Sorority, and elected home coming queen in 1940. She married Julius N. Rosenthal on January 18, 1941, and the young couple lived in Cincinnati, until they moved to Southern California in 1958. They had three sons: Walter (Malibu); Richard (Santa Barbara); and Thomas (Encinitas). They lived together in Point Loma until 1982, when Jules passed away at the age of 62. Ruth continued to live in Point Loma and was active in the Thursday Club, San Diego Country Club, Children's Hospital, and other charitable organizations. She married Dr. Jack Longley in 1984. Dr. Longley died in 2012. Her parents and two of her siblings: Mary Louise Tuke (Cincinnati, OH) and Dr. Joseph Batsche II (Ft. Pierce, FL) preceded her in death. Her younger sister, Marjorie C. Stassforth; lives in Palos Verde Estates, CA. Her three sons; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren survive Ruth. A memorial service to celebrate her life is scheduled at Fort Rosecrans National Ceme-tery at 9:30 a.m., on February 8, 2013. Friends of Ruth are invited to attend.
