I miss my Dad more every day. He was a quiet guy, one of those who gets up and gets the job done and doesn't talk much about it. Who sat at the table and listened to us all run on, enjoyed it as if we were the most wonderful show on earth. Who just glowed with enthusiasm when he was happy.... and whom everybody remembers in the best way. Enthusiastic for life and adventure, generous and loyal to friends and family, kind, a sense of humor, and completely himself.... not flashy qualities, but ones that stand the test of time very well. A friend just told me that "Your dad was just the kindest, nicest man I ever met" --- the best of recommendations! I miss you Daddy, and hope you are out there doing 10K's over the desert somewhere!

My Dad was one of my favorite people. He always went out of his way to help people as well as he could, often looking for ways to make things better. He did these things because he felt that that is what a citizen and family member should do, that it went without saying that of course he would do all he could. What he did was often not widely recognized because what was important to Dad was the doing and accomplishment, which was often better done if he wasn't recognized as important.
