Richard G. Glover Obituary
Glover, Richard G. 05/18/1951 ~ 04/20/2013 POINT LOMA -- Richard "Dick" Glover, a wonderful husband and father, was much loved by family and admired and respected by friends and associates. Born in Los Angeles and raised in the San Fernando Valley, he enjoyed exploring its canyons and hills and lettering in basketball. Active in the YMCA, he became leader-in-training at age 15 and counselor into his 20s. He earned his bachelor's in finance at CSU Long Beach, leading to a successful business career including chief economist for McDonnell-Douglas and recently consultant to Bay Area Rapid Transit. As PSA marketing director he made his smartest move, to San Diego where he met and married Diana in 1995. Richard loved and was devoted to her, his sons and family. An avid outdoorsman, adventures with fishing, hiking, camping, kayaking and skiing especially were fun to share with them. He also devoted many recent years to others through scouting. A trusted mentor and asst. scoutmaster of Point Loma Troop 500, Richard spearheaded the high adventure program leading scouts on High Sierra, Mt. Whitney, Grand Canyon and Philmont treks. He appreciated God's handiwork in nature. With intellect (member of MENSA) and a sense of humor he helped people enjoy and achieve in life. Richard is survived by wife Diana, sons Jake, Ben and Ryan, daughter-in-law Jessy, grandson Ethan, sister Lisa and brothers Dave and John. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, April 27, at 2:00 p.m. at Point Loma Community Presbyterian Church, 2128 Chatsworth Blvd., San Diego 92107. In lieu of flowers, the Glover Family Memorial Fund has been established at US Bank, 2150 Chatsworth Blvd., San Diego 92107.
