R. Michael Brewer Obituary
Brewer, R. Michael ESCONDIDO R. Michael (Moon) Brewer passed away in La Jolla, California on Tuesday, May 7. He was born on May 8, 1944. He was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. P.H. Brewer, longtime residents of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He is survived by his wife, Luz (Lucy) Nery Gandara Brewer; and many beloved relatives by marriage in Cartegena, Colombia. He is survived by his siblings: Hoyte Brewer (Carolyn), Ann Birdwell (Bob), and William (Buck) Brewer (Maxine). Two generations of numerous surviving nephews and nieces knew him as "Uncle Moon." A sister, Lois (Lynn) Pass and brother, Frank Brewer died earlier. Mike was born in Charlotte, N.C. and was a proud 1962 graduate of Oak Ridge High School and later East Tennessee State University. He served in the US Navy on the USS John F. Kennedy during the Vietnam era. Along the way that led him to live in Escondido, California, he made many dear friends whom he contacted frequently. For a while, he operated the Indian Rock Springs in Escondido. He was devoted in many ways to senior citizens whom he befriended and deeply revered and appreciated. Mike attended Mission Hills Church in San Marcos. Services will be private but special memorial services will be planned and announced later. In lieu of flowers, it was Mike's wish that friends remember him as they may choose.
