Eleanor Lant Obituary
Lant, Eleanor OCEANSIDE -- Born Eleanor Virginia McGuire on July 21, 1923 to Kareen and Walter McGuire, Eleanor was one of six children. She resided in Shadyside, Ohio until she completed high school and moved to the East Coast. She met and married her first husband, Colin Raymond Gallagher and had the first three of her four children: Linda Gallagher, Sharon Hill, and Patsy Hargett. After a divorce, she met and married her second husband, Ned Arcidiacono, and had her fourth child, a son, named Frank Arcidiacono. She and Ned were married for 28 years working side by side in the food business and raising their combined family of seven children! After Ned's passing, Eleanor met and married her current husband, Donald M. Lant. At age 72, she was delighted to find her "soul mate" who encouraged her to pursue new activities. Eleanor was a devoted wife, fabulous cook, warm and caring Mother and Grandmother, devoted church goer, and avid walker. But, her new passion was writing. And, write she did. She and Don were enthusiastic students in a creative writing class where she honed her skills. The culmination of her efforts resulted in a book published in 2005 at age 81! This fictional book titles "Robie" was based on the life story of a dear friend. Don was there to offer his support every step of the way. Known as "Ellie" to most, she brightened many lives in her (almost) 90 years. She died after an extended battle with the painful poly-myalgia rheumatica and has finally found the comfort and peace she so richly deserved. Private services will be held at 2 p.m., on Tuesday, July 30th, at Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside, California.
