John Howard "Jack" Weekley Obituary
Weekley, John Howard "Jack" Jack Weekley died peacefully in his home and went to be with his Lord Monday, July 22, 2013. He was born in Arnettesville, West Virginia, on May 5, 1925. He was the third of five children. He volunteered to serve in the Navy at the young age of 17. He excelled in the area of Sonar and problem solving. Jack retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer after 22 years of service as a "sub-buster." He spent another 20-plus years as a civilian with the Navy. Jack loved puzzles, reading, chess and bowling. He scored two nearly perfect 299 games at the age of 72 and clinched a perfect 300 game at the age of 73! He loved computers, pocket protectors, Tic-Tacs and M & Ms. Jack had a great sense of humor and was quite a prankster. Jack had a deep and abiding faith in the Lord and his knowledge of the Bible was extensive. He never passed up an opportunity to share his faith, his evangelical heart was very apparent. He was a lifetime supporter of missions, both practically and spiritually. He was a longtime deacon and Sunday school leader. He always had an open heart and a love for those in need of a warm meal, comforting word, or a place to lay their head. Jack is survived by his wife, Rose Lee; his four sons, Bruce, John (wife Rhonda), David (wife Alesandra) and Paul (wife Tracy); his three daughters, Barbara (husband Ken), Zona, Mary "Elena" (husband John); sisters, Betty Ware and Lucille Ely; 18 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great- nephews. Preceded in death by brother Robert and sister Vivian Jose, and two daughters Cathy and Sally. Jack was beloved by all who were touched by his life.
