Mary Anne Salini Obituary
Salini, Mary Anne SAN DIEGO -- Mary Anne Louise Platt was born on March 3, 1952 in New York City. A beloved wife, mother, sister and aunt, she died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on April 14, 2014 in San Diego. Mary Anne grew up in Philadelphia and earned a Bachelor's degree from Boston University and a Master's degree from Yale University, both in Music. A talented bass (viol) player, she moved to South America to play with the National Orchestra of Colombia. After her music career was cut short due to severe rheumatoid arthritis, she embarked on a 25+ year career with the County of San Diego, from which she retired in 2010. Mary Anne had many interests including cooking and gardening, loved children, and was enjoying her retirement. She was widely loved for her generous and compassionate heart, and will be missed by her many friends and family. She is survived by her husband, Mark Salini, her most beloved son, John Houghton, her sister, Jennie Platt, and step-sister, Linda Rubin. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 29th, at 2:30 p.m. at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.
