NASHUA - Alphonse J. Andruskevich, 92, a native and lifelong Nashua resident, died peacefully Friday morning, Aug. 8, 2014, at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Goffstown after a period of declining health.Born in Nashua on May 15, 1922, he was a son of the late Joseph and Eva (Rasamovich) Andruskevich. Educated in local schools, Alphonse was a graduate of Nashua High School, class of 1940, and served with the Army as a sergeant in Kentucky during World War II.After the war, Alphonse began a long career with the United States Postal Service, as a letter carrier at the Nashua Post Office. He later served as Postmaster of the Windham Post Office until he retired after a total of 37 years. Mr. Andruskevich was a life-member of the National Association of Letter Carriers serving as an officer in the local and state associations.Alphonse was the widower of Irene A. (Biron) Andruskevich, who died on June 28 of this year. They were married on April 22, 1944, and shared 70 years together. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Joseph and Anthony Andruskevich.Members of his family include three children and their spouses, Carol A. and Maurice Thibaudeau of Manchester, Thomas A. and Shelly Andruskevich of Milford, Mass. and Anthony M. Andruskevich of Nashua; five grandchildren, Michael and Jeffrey Thibaudeau of Manchester, Thomas A. Andruskevich Jr. and his wife Stephanie of South Hampton, Amanda Parker and her husband Frank of Holliston, Mass. and William Andruskevich and his wife Cailin of Norwood, Mass.; five great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.


SERVICES: Calling hours will be held at the Farwell Funeral Home, Lock Street, Nashua, tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 29 Spring St., Nashua, Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. Interment will take place at St. Patrick Cemetery in Hudson.
