Hampstead - Catherine P. "Cay" Robbins, 95, died Aug. 26, 2014, at Genesis Exeter Center in Exeter.She was born on Jan. 17, 1919, in Cambridge, Mass., daughter of the late Benjamin and Carrie (Pearley) Howe.Cay was one of four children. They grew up in Reading, Mass., on 39 Howard St. After high school, she attended Northwestern University and later at the University of New Hampshire, where she earned her Associate of Science degree in library science.On April 11, 1941, she married John M. Robbins, and they shared nearly 55 years of marriage together.They resided in Holden, Mass., until 1964 when they made the move to Hampstead, where Cay spent the next 50 years. She was a devoted homemaker for the family. Also, Cay started Hollyhock thrift shop, was a teacher's aide, was a librarian at Atkinson Academy, was a trustee of the Hampstead Public Library and owned and operated a raspberry farm.Cay was a longtime member of the Hampstead Congregational Church, joined the church choir and was a church deaconess. She was a proud den mother for her children in Cub Scouts. Cay was a member of the Hampstead Conservation Commission. She was the current Boston Post Cane Holder for the oldest resident of Hampstead.She was predeceased by her husband, two brothers and a sister.Cay is survived by her three children, son and daughter-in-law John and Patricia Robbins; daughter and son-in-law Marilyn and Jeff Quinnell; son and daughter-in-law David and Kathleen Robbins; five grandchildren, Jay, Steven, Susan, Ian and Lauren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: There are no calling hours.
