Dunbarton - Earl R. Jones 87, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at his residence.

He was born in Bethel, Vt., on March 10, 1926, to Clayton and Barbara Jones.

Earl served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946; he was a seamen first class and was stationed in the U.S. and Guam.

Earl spent his childhood in Vermont and moved to Bradford in 1938.

Earl was many things, including a volunteer firefighter for the town of Dunbarton, an avid hunter, fan of all sports, active member of the National Rifle Association, family historian and a member of the Sunset Baseball League in Concord.

Earl is survived by his brother, Arthur Jones of New London, and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Jones was predeceased by his parents, Clayton F.H. Jones and Barbara (Cordiner) Jones; and seven of his eight siblings, Clayton Jones, Evelyn Jones Sawyer, Kenneth Jones, Albert W. Jones, Earnest P. Jones Sr., Eleanor Jones Schneider and Phylis Jones Mooney.

services: Calling hours will be from 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday, June 17, at the French and Rising Funeral Home, 17 S. Mast St., Goffstown.

A graveside service with military honors will take place on Aug. 26, at 10:30 a.m. at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
