MANCHESTER - Francis Joseph "Jay" Boivin, 89, of Manchester, passed away after a brief illness on May 1, 2014, at the Laurel Center in Bedford.He was born on Aug. 21, 1924, son of the late Albert W. and Mary (Daley) Boivin.Jay served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a radio personality throughout New England for various radio stations. He also volunteered at the VA Hospital in Manchester with more than 16,000 hours of volunteering. Throughout his adult life, he spent winters in Florida and his summers in Manchester. He was an avid walker and enjoyed music and the theater.Jay is survived by his sister, Connie Savage of Manchester; his niece, Judy Raduazzo of Litchfield; and many grand-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Albert "Pete" Boivin, formerly of Louisiana, and his niece Betty McNall, formerly of North Conway..

SERVICES: A visitation will be held in the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St. (corner of Union Street), Manchester, on Friday, June 6, from noon to 1 p.m. A prayer service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 1 p.m. Interment will follow with U.S. Navy military honors in Pine Grove Cemetery.
