BEDFORD - George E. Benoit, 89, formerly of Manchester, died Feb. 11, 2013, at Ridgewood Center in Bedford after a period of declining health.

He was born in Manchester on Dec. 27, 1923, to Edeas and Marion (Vien) Benoit. He lived in Manchester for most of his life.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Benoit worked as an electrician at Catholic Medical Center for many years.
He enjoyed refinishing furniture and antiques and playing cribbage and golf. He was also an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was married to Marie Jeanne (LeClerc) Benoit, who died in 2010. He was also predeceased by a sister, Lucille LaFrance.
The family includes five children, Lien Brent Dilernia and Gerard Benoit, both of San Francisco, Elaine Smith of Manchester, Evelyn DeRocher of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Paul Benoit of Hooksett; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and cousins, nieces and nephews.
services: A calling hour is Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. followed immediately at 11 a.m. with a funeral service at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North Street, Manchester. Committal prayers will follow at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Road, Manchester.
