NASHUA - John Paul Marcum, 65, of Nashua, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at home.

Born April 29, 1948, in Nashua, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Catherine (Russell) Marcum and husband of Diane (Lavoie) Marcum, of Nashua, whom he married on July 23, 1976.
John attended the Hollis school system and after graduating high school, John went on to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps, from 1968 to 1970, honorably discharged as a corporal.
John was a communicant of St. Christopher Church in Nashua.
John worked for the Nashua Fire Department from 1980 to 2002, retiring as fleet superintendent of the Mechanical Division. John went on to work for the Nashua Airport Authority for the last 10 years. He was a member of Nashua Fire Rescue, the Retired Fire Fighters Association, and the Nashua Airport Authority.
John loved spending time with his family, especially his three granddaughters. He enjoyed his time at Newfound Lake in Bristol, boating, fishing, and having family cookouts. John was known as "Mr. Fix-It" to all who knew him.
Besides his wife of 37 years, he is survived by three daughters, Danielle York and her husband Travis, of Manchester, Vanessa Robles and her husband Angelo, of Nashua, and Julie Marcum and her fiancé Christopher Rooney, of Hampton; one son, Jonathan Marcum of Nashua; three grandchildren, Madeleine and Lily York and Ivy Robles; six brothers and four sisters-in-law, Daniel Marcum, Russell Marcum and his wife Joan, Alan Marcum and his wife Elaine, Joseph Marcum and his wife Linda, Steven Marcum and his wife Melissa and Benjamin Marcum; three sisters and their spouses, Mary Hawkins and her husband Ed, Catherine Farr-Marcum and her wife Gay, and Donna Verville and her husband Bob; mother-in-law Lucille Lavoie; sister-in-law Carol Klinkhamer and her husband David; brother-in-law Brian Lavoie and his wife Louise; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
services: Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home, 1 Lock St., Nashua. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Christopher Church, 62 Manchester St., Nashua. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may meet at the Davis Funeral Home at 9:15 a.m. Interment prayers and burial will be held at the N.H. State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, Friday at 11:30 a.m. All are invited to attend and may meet at the cemetery.
