PORTSMOUTH - Linda Leavitt passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2014, after a long and brave battle against breast cancer. She was a beloved grandmother, sister, friend and mother.A longtime resident of Dover and Portsmouth, Linda worked at the University of New Hampshire for more than 20 years as head groundskeeper. She was a wonderful artist and writer, with a terrifically dry sense of humor.Linda faced her illness the same way she faced all things in her life - head on. Linda's bravery will not only be remembered by her loved ones, but by the members of N.H.'s first Stage 4 breast cancer support group, which Linda helped to establish. The friends she made battling her illness will be forever grateful for her companionship and inspiration. Linda's family will miss her most of all. Though she enjoyed being a private person, her love and warmth will be remembered always by those left to mourn her passing. Linda's ashes will be committed to the sea in a private ceremony.
