BRENTWOOD - M. Edward "Eddie" Burtt died at his boyhood home on Jan. 22, 2014. He was born in the Exeter Cottage Hospital in Exeter, on Jan. 5, 1929, the son of William "Bill" Abbot Burtt and Elizabeth "Bessie" Pride (Cole) Burtt.

He served from October 1947 to December 1950 in the Merchant Marine then from Jan. 8, 1951, to February 20, 1953, in the U.S. Marine Corps until receiving an early honorable discharge due to injuries.
On Feb. 9, 1954 he married Ann Peterson and lived in Epping where he raised four sons. During the late 1950s to the mid-1960s his main occupation was logging. In 1966 he started Epping Tractor Service, a heavy construction company. He was well known for his honesty and workmanship all over New England.
He was predeceased by one son, Fred William Burtt in 1991. In addition to his wife Ann, he is survived by three sons, Peter Edward Burtt and his wife Joanne, Walter Everett Burtt and his wife Lindah, and Dana Eric Burtt and his wife Luanne; one sister, Elizabeth A. Burtt; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at his son, Dana's home, 167 Old Nottingham Road, Epping, on Friday, Jan. 24, at noon. Burial will follow in the Burtt Family Cemetery. Brewitt Funeral Home, 9 Pleasant St., Epping, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
