Manchester - Maurice A. Desmarais Sr., 78, died Feb. 6, 2014, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center.He was born in Manchester on Oct. 27, 1935, the son of Albert and Eva (Baril) Desmarais and had been a lifelong resident of this community.He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and held membership in the American Legion William J. Jutras Post 43 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8214.Prior to his retirement, he had been a truck driver for N.H. Supply.He enjoyed spending time with family and great friends, hunting and fishing.He was predeceased by his wife, Josephine (Osiel) Desmarais, who died April 23, 2005, and one sister, Olive Leclair, who died on March 22, 2011.Members of his family include four daughters, Kathy Merrill, Joyce Desmarais, Janice Bureau and Tracy Desmarais, all of Manchester; one son, Maurice A. Desmarais Jr. of Crested Butte, Colo.; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; his sister, Irene Trumble; his lifelong friend and brother-in-law, Charles Leclair; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

SERVICES: Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the J. N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St., Manchester.Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home.Burial will follow in the N.H.
