Manchester - Maurice G. Dionne, 86, died March 1, 2014, at the Elliot Hospital following a brief illness.He was born in Manchester on Sept. 26, 1927, the son of Herve and Orpha (Lessard) Dionne and had been a lifelong resident of Manchester.He served his country in both the U.S. Navy and Air Force Reserves.He was employed as a Manchester firefighter for 24 years and as a painter for the Elliot Hospital until his retirement.His family meant the world to him. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He took enormous pride in all of his family's accomplishments. He was especially proud to say that he was married to his wife for 63 wonderful years.He held membership in the Manchester Retired Firefighters Association. He was a former parishioner of Parish of the Transfiguration and attended Masses in Mount Carmel Nursing Home Chapel.Family members include his wife, Doris (Trahan) Dionne of Manchester; two daughters, Janet L. Chagnon and her husband, Frederick, and Denise A. Venne, both of Manchester. He also leaves four grandchildren, Matthew Chagnon, Bradley Venne, Dylan Chagnon and Oliver Chagnon; three great-grandchildren, twins Henry and Peter Venne and Amelia Chagnon; one sister, Arline Whipple; and several nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by two sisters, Lucille Soucy and Rita Gilbert, and one brother, Bertrand Dionne..

SERVICES: Calling hours will be on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at J. N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St., Manchester.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11 a.m. in Parish of the Transfiguration, Kelley and Youville streets.Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parish of the Transfiguration, Maurice G.
