CLAREMONT - Paul E. Thibault, 85, of Washington Street in Claremont, died on July 15, 2014, at his home.He was born on Dec. 8, 1928, in Stratford, Quebec, Canada. At the age of 11, he came to the United States and resided in Claremont, with his parents, Omar and Cleophee (Couture) Thibault, where he resided the remaining years of his life.Paul married Verna May (Roy) Thibault on Oct. 30, 1948, and she died on June 15, 2013. Together they shared 64 years of marriage.He attended the schools of Claremont and owned and operated many businesses in the area, including Paul's Atlantic Service & Gas Station, Paul's Park Square Used Auto Sales, Paul & Son Auto Sales (Subaru) and Paul & Son Ford, Lincoln & Mercury Dealership.Paul served his community and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Elks Club, New Hampshire Automobile Dealers Association, National Automobile Dealer Association and the Claremont Moose.Paul's lifelong passions included his family, friends and pumpkin pie. In later years, he treasured his time going for rides and going to Friendly's for his strawberry fribbles.The family includes his son, Chester Thibault and Grace Allen of Unity; his daughter, Sharlene Russell of Charlestown; three grandchildren, Pamela Brister of Texas, Paul Thibault of Texas and Brett Russell and his wife, Kylie, of Claremont; four great-grandchildren, Justice, Marrissa and Liberty Daniels of Texas and Karter Russell of Claremont; four sisters, Jeanette Seymour, Marie Hurd and her husband, Maurice, Jeannine Perry and her husband, Dave, and Suzanne Boucher, all of Claremont; also numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by five brothers, Hercule Thibault, Lucien Thibault, Bertrand Thibault, Normand Thibault and Ronald "Nedeau" Thibault, and one sister, Arline Griggs.

SERVICES: Friends and family may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad St. in Claremont on Monday, July 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at the St. Catherine of Siena Church in Charlestown on Tuesday, July 22, at 10 a.m. with Father Steven Lepine officiating.Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Claremont.
