BOSCAWEN - Paula A. Finkenstadt died on Jan. 31, 2013, at the Merrimack County Nursing Home after a short period of declining health.

Paula (Maass) Finkenstadt was born in Wewelsfleth, Germany, on May 23, 1928, to Richard and Dora (Bahnsen) Maass. She arrived in the United States on Dec. 24, 1951, and proceeded to study to become a citizen, which she attained on June 14, 1957, Flag Day, at Mineola, N.Y.
Her life consisted of working with her husband in the delicatessen business for a number of years as well as working the retail trade in Keene. While living in Spofford, she was a member of the Mt. Pistareen Grange as well as a den mother for the local Cub Scouts Pack. She was also active with the Monadnock Square Dancing Club and Chapter 1016 of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Keene lodge.
She married her husband, Herman, who predeceased her (Dec. 14, 2009) on Feb. 6, 1955. She is survived by her family including son Richard of West Chesterfield, son Carl of Concord, daughters-in-law Eve and Anna, grandchildren Pamela Tarleton, Alyson, Petra, Sarah and James Finkenstadt, great-grandchild Gabriella Tarleton, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
