TILTON - Mr. Philip Michael Labnon, 88, a resident of the New Hampshire Veterans Home, Tilton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014.Phil was born in Berlin on Sept. 4, 1925, the son of Morris and Rose (Hebbep) Labnon. He attended Berlin schools until enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1943 where he proudly served the 5th Marine Division in Iwo Jima. Upon his honorable discharge in 1946, he returned to Berlin to work for his family's businesses.Phil loved hard work and the quiet of the outdoors where he spent many days fly-fishing and hunting. For many years, he was the caretaker at Phillips Brook Lodge in Stark. The lodge was his second favorite place to be, the first being the racetrack.Family was always important. Phil cared very much for his family. He would often express how proud he was of his children and grandchildren. He often reminisced about days gone by with family and friends and had great stories to tell. We were blessed to have him and his stories with us for as long as we did.Phil is survived by his brother, Robert "Bob" Labnon of Berlin; his three sons, David Labnon and wife Trish of Wilton, Douglas Labnon of Cocoa Beach, Fla., and Darren Labnon and wife Mary of Cocoa, Fla.; two daughters, Donna Sulley and husband Scott of Portsmouth, Diane Wyman and Garry Dominguez of Kittery Point, Maine: grandchildren Strider Sulley of Portsmouth, Scott Wyman of Cocoa Beach Fla., Clay Wyman of Kittery Maine, Emily Wheeler of Boca Grand, Fla., Ashley Labnon of Peterborough, Kevin and Derek Labnon of Cocoa, Fla., and Jasmine Dayna Boyd of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; great-grandchildren Michaela and Stone Sulley of Portsmouth, Ella May Diaz and Grey Wheeler of Boca Grand, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his wife, Jeannette (Lavoie) Labnon; son Dana M. Labnon; parents Morris and Rose (Hebbep) Labnon; brothers Ralph "Navy" Labnon, Richard "Arab" Labnon and Raymond Labnon; and sisters Emily Labnon and Josephine Weston.The family of Phil wishes to express its heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at the N.H. Veterans Home for the warmth and wonderful care they provided to our father and grandfather..

SERVICES: A brief service will held on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 11 a.m. a.m. at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. Arrangements are in care of Paquette-Neun Funeral Home, Northfield ( of sympathy may be made in Phil's name to the Resident Fund, N.H. Veterans Home, 139 Winter St., Tilton 03276.
