PENACOOK - Robert Amos Bernier, 82, of Penacook, died peacefully in his home with his wife, Carol, by his side on Feb. 8, 2014.

He was born Nov. 30, 1931, to Elsie (Merchant) Bernier and Archie J. Bernier of Penacook and was a lifelong resident of Penacook.
He graduated from Penacook High School and worked at Allied Tanning. After graduating from New England College, he opened his own accounting and tax preparation business that he ran for 47 years. He also owned and operated May B's Restaurant in Penacook in the 1980s.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and was active in the American Legion Chapter 31 and a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1698 in Franklin.
He enjoyed hiking, canoeing, motorcycling and was an avid wrestling fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family and going out to dinner.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Stanley, Donald, Carl and Kenneth Bernier.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Walter-Bernier; daughters Diane Kinney and her husband, Paul, of Tilton, Pam Martino and her husband, Ron, of Wakefield, Mass., Elaine Mayo and her husband, Doug, from Fruitland Park, Fla., Faith Guild and her longtime companion, Harold Merrill, of W. Bath, Maine; stepson Alan Walter and his wife, Susie, of Penacook; and a sister, Eleanor Williams of California. He had 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
