HYDE PARK, Mass. - Robert C. Sprague Jr., 82, of Hyde Park, died Nov. 21, 2013.

He was the beloved husband for more than 50 years of the late Pauline (MacDonald); loving son of the late Robert C. and Margaret (Kelley); devoted father of Paula Campia and her husband, Michael, of Hyde Park, Robert III and his wife, Jeanne, of Plymouth, Janice Jeanetti of Hyde Park, Jill Wallace and her husband, Robert Verville, of Hooksett, N.H., and the late Lauren Giles; cherished brother of Thomas of Brockton, Shirley Ghostlaw of Norwood, Donald of Wrentham and William of Dedham; devoted brother-in-law of the late Herbert MacDonald; loving "Grand Pa" of 15 grandchildren, one great-grandson. He was also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War with a Purple Heart Medal and was highly decorated. He was a retired Boston police officer, serving for 38 years. He was a member of the Boston Police Patrolmen's Association, Mass. Police Patrolmen's Association, Emerald Society, former commander of Boston Police Post 1018, one of the founders of the Boston Police Honor Guard, Boston Police Relief Association and Knights of Columbus, Readville.

Doc enjoyed family time at Salisbury Beach and playing cards with his close friends. He will be greatly missed.

services: Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. (children's room available). The funeral will be from the Carroll-Thomas Funeral Home, 22 Oak St., Hyde Park, on Wednesday morning at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at Most Precious Blood Church, Hyde Park, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited.

Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury.
